Matte Black with Shiny Tips!

Hi!

Today I am showing you a recent nail design that I found on Pinterest (obsessed with that site BTW!) This is a matte black manicure with shiny french tips. Check out this easy mani!

I really really like this mani. It was fun and different and I never really do french tips or any nail art for that matter, but this was so simple, and I am surprised at how well it turned out! Only complaint is that the matte top coat I used wasn't the greatest.. it didn't turn completely matte like I would have liked, but you get the idea.

Another complaint; matte top coats don't seem to wear as well on me. I had a chip the next day. But oh well, I rocked this look as long as I could :P

What do you think about this mani? Have you ever tried this before?

  1. Every time I see this, I think of tuxedos. Lovely and I'm not a matte fan.

  2. This is the look of the season with YSL-they are selling a set of matte and shiny black together with this look-I bought it!! Chloe's nails did this look long before Pinterest!! I love her! Does Matte lose its matteness with lotion? I have not worn it yet-am wondering about that!

I'm sure the YSL Matte set is a lot nicer than the matte that I used :p but yes, I did notice that the matte lost its matteness with lotion. After the third day it was really hard to tell the difference between the matte and shiny. Booo!

  4. Hi there! I love this combo, so fresh and simple! What matte top coat do you use? I find that the Essie one wears spectacularly on me, but of course, everyone's personal chemistry means that everything wears differently on everyone =)
