My Top 5 of 2011 #1 / NYE Mani!

Hi readers!

Happy New Years Eve! Do you guys have any fun plans for tonight? Enjoy it!!! :) Today I am showing you the final installment of 'My Top 5 Favorite Polishes of 2011!' This is also my New Year's Eve mani! Because it just screams 'party!' What is this mystery polish you ask? It's none other than the famed Cult Nails Clairvoyant (formerly known as Unicorn Puke).

Macro of those flakies!

How gorgeous is this? I mean really? There are so many different colors going on, as I said above, it screams 'party!' I don't really know what else to say about Clairvoyant. The flakies are suspended in a sheer purple jelly base, that will build up in four coats or so, but what you see above is one coat of Clairvoyant over a Wet n' Wild Black Creme. I like this combo because the flakies really stand out, but I can't wait to try more layering combos with this!

What do you think about my New Year's Eve manicure / #1 on my top 5 favorite polishes from 2011?

I really enjoyed doing this series, and I hope you enjoyed reading it!!! It was really hard to pick just 5, which is why I will be doing an 'Honorable Mentions' post tomorrow- so look for that ;-)

My Top 5 of 2011 #2

Hi!

As the year is winding down, I am looking back at my favorite polishes throughout 2011. Today I am showing you #2! This is Cult Nails Let Me Fly from the Spring/Summer A Day at the Races collection. When this collection first came out, I was REALLY excited about this polish, and had to have it! Needless to say, it did not disappoint (it is on my top 5 after all, right?!)

Macro shot to see those flecks

Why wouldn't this be in my top 5? I love all things blue and teal, glass flecks are my absolute FAVORITE finish of all time, so this polish is pretty much everything I've ever dreamed of. :) If I had to rank my top 5, I think this would be #1. The formula is amazing, and though this is just a swatch, Cult Nails polishes usually wear really well on me.

What do you think of my #2?

BY THE WAY! My giveaway ends tonight at Midnight! I will try to validate entries and have a winner announced on Monday! (Try being the key word, my family will be in for the weekend so things might get a bit crazy)

Thanks for reading, loves!

My Top 5 of 2011 #3

Hello Lovelies!

Today I am continuing with my top 5 favorite polishes of 2011. So rolling right along, today we have RBL Fortissimo. This was released in the 'Pre-Fall 2011 Firebird Collection' and I think the most under appreciated polish in that collection, but I mean, when they are competing with Piu Mosso it's kind of a no brainer.

Everything about this polish is a win for me. The formula, the interesting color, just everything I guess! When I was going through my top favorites, this one just kept jumping out at me, like 'Pick me, pick me!' So whaddayaknow.. I did!

Thoughts on my #3 pick?

Thanks for stopping by!

My Top 5 of 2011 #4

Hey there!

Today I am going to show you another one of my top 5 favorite polishes of 2011. This next one I can't get enough of. Everything about it I fell in love with the moment I saw it. So #4 is Revlon - Starry Pink.

Revlon did so many great things this year, they had Limited Edition collections like never before, their formula improved drastically (in my opinion) and they released colors like this, Starry Pink. And many other new colors that will be mentioned in my 'Honorable Mentions' or 'Runners Up' if you will.

Starry Pink is one of those polishes that I will always think of to put on, but I don't want to waste it! This polish is so precious to me! I know, at the price (around $4) I should just buy a back up bottle, which I plan on doing, but Starry Pink really caught me this year, and is hands down one of the most unique polishes released in 2011!

What do you think of my #4?

My Top 5 of 2011 #5

Hi there!

I saw that a bunch of other bloggers were doing their 'Top 5 favorite polishes of 2011' so I decided to jump on the bandwagon! These are in no particular order, because I love them all dearly. And let me just say how hard it was to pick only 5 polishes from 2011. I had about 20 that I wanted to post, but narrowed it down.

So today as one of my top 5 favorite polishes from 2011, we have China Glaze - Trendsetter.

How could I NOT pick this one?!! I love the glass flecks, the odd color, it is so unique in my collection and in my opinion it is one of the most unique polishes to be released in 2011.

So that is #5 of my top 5 (even though as I said.. there is no order!!)

What do you think? Would this be in your top 5 favorite polishes of 2011? Am I crazy for loving this pretty-ugly color so much?

Keep a look out for #4 tomorrow!

RBL - Grunge

Hey there!

Today's post is about Rescue Beauty Lounge Grunge. This is a 'core' RBL polish which means that if it does sell out, it will come back, and it will never be gone forever. This in mind, the urgency to get this polish was never there for me, I figured 'hey, it's core.. don't worry, get it next order!' because those LE colors always took trump to dear old Grunge.

Well, last week it had been announced on the RBL Facebook page that Dead Calm's inventory was running dangerously low, the mere thought of missing out on Dead Calm *forever* made me sweat. I needed it. But I couldn't just order ONE polish.. I couldn't justify shipping just one RBL all by itself, so this is where Grunge comes in!

Ahhhh.. Grunge, I don't know why you weren't mine long, long ago. You are the perfect nude, and I love you.  Your very subtle shimmer that comes out to play in sunlight makes you different than any of the other boring nudes in my collection, and your formula was to die for.  I am glad that I finally chose you, and I promise that you will hold a special place in my collection forever!

Hahaha. Reading that above made me giggle.. but seriously. Grunge is fantastic, if you are thinking about it- don't wait, though it is core, don't let that stop you!

Thanks for reading :)

Revlon - Whimsical

Merry Christmas Eve!

I am not doing a 'traditional' mani for Christmas, which would be red, green, or any other holiday color. Instead I am wearing Revlon - Whimsical. I have been trying different layering combinations with this for a few days, and finally landed one one that was perfect, and I loved it so much I could not take it off, so here is my Christmas mani. This is two coats of China Glaze Sea Spray and two coats of Revlon Whimsical.

Obsessed. That's all I can say. Seriously, I can not stop staring at the gorgeous combination of milky blue and suspended glitter. So happy this is mine! (and equally happy that I saved about $14 on this rather than buying the original Deborah Lippmann - Glitter in the Air, because from what I have heard this is a dead on dupe, and I wanted Glitter in the Air so badly!)

ALSO- for those of you who have not heard, I am currently hosting a giveaway for this polish, so be sure to enter for a chance to win your own bottle of Revlon Whimsical here!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!! I wish for a happy and healthy 2012 for all of you!

RBL - Dead Calm

Hey there!

Today's post is about Rescue Beauty Lounge - Dead Calm. This is a gorgeous deep blue. I am already a fan of blues, but add the RBL formula and I am head over heels!

This is one coat. ONE. Pinky swear. Isn't that amazing? I wore this for 5 days straight, and hated to take it off because I loved it so much, I see myself grabbing for this a lot in the future.

What do you guys think of Dead Calm?

Thanks for stopping by- and tell your friends about my giveaway!

Revlon - Aloof

Hey!

Quick post today- I am currently on my way to a friends house, but I had to post this mani before I left! This is Revlon - Aloof, from one of their recent Limited Edition collections, it is a gorgeous silvery/white microglitter/shimmery finish. When you see the photo you will understand why this is so hard to describe!

Enlarge it to see the flecks of glitter. What you see is two coats of unique goodness. I am LOVING this, and the formula was just two coats for full coverage!

Thoughts on 'Aloof'? I actually think it's pretty festive!

Zoya - Kendal

Hey there!

Today's post is about Zoya Kendal. This is one of the new polishes from the Winter 2011 Zoya 'Feel' collection, which consists of 6 full coverage neutral cremes. I got this and Zoya Kristen during one of their Flash Promos from Facebook. So check out Zoya Kendal!

They weren't kidding when they said 'full coverage', what you see above is two flawless coats. Neutrals, especially neutrals this light, can be especially hard to work with, but this was great! I kind of want the rest of the collection now!

What do you think about Kendal? Do you have this or any of the other polishes from the Zoya Feel collection?

RBL - Recherche & Comparison

Hey there!

Today's post is about another RBL (sorry guys.. I know, I've been on an RBL kick lately, but it will come to an end I promise!) This one is Recherche, it is from the Iconic/Ironic Spring 2011 collection. I will also be showing a comparison between this and OPI - I Brake for Manicures.

Not the best picture I've ever taken.. sorry for that yellow flash, it is not in the polish, it is a reflection from my desk lamp.

So Recherche, how gorgeous are you? Are you plum? Are you raisin? WHAT ARE YOU!? Stunning.. that's what you are! I literally could not stop staring at my nails when I was wearing this, I am such a sucker for dark vampy colors. But something was telling me that I owned a polish eerily similar to this.. and boy was I right.

In comes OPI- I Brake for Manicures.

L-R; OPI, RBL, OPI, RBL

Can you honestly tell the difference? I can.. but I think it is only because I know. For all intensive purposes, I would call these dupes. Which is great for you gals that want to save a few extra bucks! (OPI retails for around $8.50, and RBL is $18) So for less than half the price, you get the same great color.

I didn't even want to do this comparison, because in the bottle they looked identical, and I had already spent the money on both. Don't get me wrong, I love Recherche (and RBL) and to me, it's totally worth the money, but.. I could have saved $18, long story short; I wanted to pass along this valuable info to you, readers, so you can save money too, if you want to!

What do you think about Recherche / I Break for Manicures. Do you own either? Will you be purchasing either? Don't you HATE when you buy and expensive polish and realize there is a less expensive dupe out there?

Cult Nails - Power Thief

Hey there, and welcome new readers!!

Today's post is about a polish I recently purchased in the Black Friday Cult Nails sale. (They are also currently having a Christmas sale, all polishes are $8.50, regularly $10)  Anyway, this is Power Thief, it just came out in the Winter "Super Powers" collection, it is a milky brown polish with pink and silver (maybe green?) micro glitter, it is so pretty- check out Power Thief!

Isn't this pretty? Usually I am not one who is drawn towards brown polishes, but the micro glitter in this is spectacular, it makes it so different and unique, and also easy to wear in my opinion.

So what does everyone think about Power Thief? Are you gonna head over to Cult Nails to buy yourself a bottle? If you do- let me know! ;-)

Thanks for reading- and don't forget about my giveaway!

Nobody likes you when you're 23.

For some reason I have a really hard time taking photos of glitters.. they always turn out so dark, which brings me back to the point that I neeeeeed to buy/make a lightbox.. one of these days.

Anyway, my birthday was December 8th, and this was my birthday manicure :) I used one of my favorite blues, Sally Hansen CSM - Model Behavior, and Ulta - Pinata Yada (Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday dupe)

Yay! So festive. I am now 23.. so weird. To quote blink 182 'Nobody likes you when you're 23' :-P

RBL - Decorous

Hi there!

Today's post is about Rescue Beauty Lounge - Decorous. This beautiful polish was released in the Spring 2011 Iconic/Ironic collection. I originally passed this up, but as my RBL addiction grew, this became a 'must have' for me. And now- it's mine!

If you enlarge the pictures you can see the pink/silver micro shimmer that really makes this polish special. I don't know how well it works with my skin tone.. but there is something about it that I can't help but love. I guess it is that micro shimmer.. but with that said, Decorous is so lady like, without being boring.

What do you guys think about Decorous? Are any of you about to partake on the dreaded 'finals week' this week? If so-- best of luck!

OPI - Paris Couture for Sure Revisited

Hola!

I know I posted swatches of this polish awhile ago, but it was recently in the running to by my birthday mani, so I figured I would show you again. And FYI it didn't win. I wasn't feeling the silver foil underneath, and plus I knew I was going to be inside at work all day, so the holo goodness would have gone to waste. But here is Paris Couture For Sure-

O.O that's all.

So PCFS is kind of sheer, which is why I layered it on top of Sally Hansen - Celeb City. It has a strong scattered holo, that is so pretty!

Cult Nails - Living Water

Hi!

Today I am showing you a polish that I just picked up during the Cult Nails Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend sale. This is Living Water, one of the first polishes that Cult Nails released. This is a deep navy jelly with green glitter throughout. It's gorgeous, just look

Yeaaah, so pretty! The formula was also easy to work with. Sometimes jellies can be a pain, and we all know glitter is a pain, but this was opaque in two coats. It's seriously unlike anything else in my collection, or that I have seen before, so I'm loving it.

Did you guys get anything from the Cult Nails sale a few weeks ago? If so what did you get? What are your thoughts on Living Water?

Thanks for reading!

Zoya - Kristen

Hey there!

Today I am showing you a polish that I recently picked up during one of Zoya's 'Flash Promos' This particular promo was get two polishes for free, and just pay shipping. Who doesn't love free stuff? ESPECIALLY free polish!

After seeing swatches of the 'Feel' Collection for Winter 2011, I had picked a few faves to order when the time was right, and boy was it right during that promo! So here is Zoya Kristen

My photo makes this appear much more vivid. But IRL this is more subdued and grey-blue. But since it is getting dark super early these days in Central PA, there is no such luck for me to get a sunlight pic, and until I buy or make a light box, flash pictures are all we got!

Back to the polish. I love it. There was no streaking at all, just really milky blue-gray polish that flowed onto my nails really nicely. Dry time was also wonderful!

So did any of you pick up polishes from the Feel Collection? If so, what did you pick up? Also- if you are not a fan of Zoya on facebook, I suggest you do so soon, you don't wanna miss out on their promos!

RBL Purple Haze vs. Mismas

Hey there!

Today's post is a quick comparison of two RBL purples. I posted this on the RBL facebook page for someone who wanted to see the difference between the two, so I thought this might help out other readers here who are wondering the same thing :)

PH, Mismas, PH, Mismas

As you can see. They are two completely different purples. Everything about them is different, and I love both of them equally! (Maybe Purple Haze a teeny bit more.. but Mismas is gorgeous too!!)

Do you guys own either of these? Who is participating in the pre-order tomorrow? (Catherine, Catherine H, Jane, Killa Red and Moxie) I have been working on my list for about two weeks, and I'm still iffy on a few!!

China Glaze - Lubu Heels

Hey there!

I apologize for being a terrible blogger lately. Things have been beyond crazy at work, and with the holidays fast approaching I have just not found any spare time. But today I am taking a chunk out of my night to do what I want, for ME! And that is blog :)

So here is a polish I got a long time ago, one of my first China Glazes (my first was For Audrey) this is Lubu Heels, a black jelly base with red glitter.. sooo sexy and vampy.

This is one of my go to polishes when I can't decide what to wear, I know when I put this on I will instantly feel sexy and 'dark' hahah. I know.. random. But something in me also feels super cool when I wear this. Just me? Okay.. haha

Above is two to three coats, I had some patchiness when I applied the second coat, so on some nails there are three coats. There are about 7 different versions of this polish, I think every nail polish brand has one. Do you own one of them?

Thoughts on Lubu Heels? Do you have a polish that makes you feel sexy?

RBL - Plie

Hey there!

Today I am showing you a lovely ballerina pink, Rescue Beauty Lounge Plie. (Have you guys caught on that I am on an RBL kick lately??) Well anyway. I always put Plie in my shopping cart when I am placing an order, and then I always wind up taking it out and replacing it with a Limited Edition polish, and since Plie is core, I always say to myself "next time"

Well, the perfect chance came for me to finally own this beautiful polish, and here she is. I present to you; Plie..

So refreshing, eh? I have heard others say before that this reminds them of being a little girl and taking ballet classes. And I am no exception, this polish does just that for me. I am six years old again, wearing my little tu-tu and practicing my 'Plie'. Seriously. This polish is so nostalgic to me, and I love it.

Plie is also very calming, after the sparkly, bold and dark hues I've been sporting lately, this is such a nice break.

Thoughts on Plie? Does it remind anyone else of Silly Putty?
